Andre Wilkerson has charted a remarkable path of entrepreneurial success and community service through his twin ventures, AW Driving School, established in 2012, and AW Trucking School, which followed a decade later in 2022. Wilkerson’s commitment to enhancing road safety and providing comprehensive driver education has solidified his reputation in the greater Lehigh Valley Area, making him a trusted figure in driver training.
Driven by a vision to improve roadway safety one driver at a time, Wilkerson identified a pivotal opportunity when he learned that PennDOT was launching a pilot program for 3rd party car testing. Although he initially missed out, his relentless dedication saw him preparing rigorously to become a certified tester. His hard work bore fruit on February 1, 2019, when he was approved as a 3rd party cars tester, marking a historic milestone as the first Black-owned car driving license 3rd party testing center owner in Pennsylvania’s history.
The success of helping community members acquire their driver’s licenses was only the beginning. Andre then ventured into offering Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) testing on April 8, 2021, yet again making history as the first Black-owned CDL 3rd party testing center owner in the state. This significant leap paved the way for the establishment of AW Trucking School on December 21, 2022, further demonstrating Andre’s commitment to creating accessible pathways into the trucking industry for his community. His innovative approach to one-on-one training set a new standard in the area, offering personalized and effective driver education.
Today, Andre Wilkerson continues to lead both AW Driving School and AW Trucking School with an unwavering commitment to growth and development. Working closely with his team, he remains dedicated to his mission of making the greater Lehigh Valley Area safer, one driver at a time, while simultaneously opening doors to career opportunities in the trucking industry. Through his groundbreaking work, Wilkerson not only creates jobs and fosters economic growth but also inspires the next generation of entrepreneurs and community leaders.
